There are quite a few bands these days that write music based only on what’s popular right now. The focus is no longer on the actual music, but what band wagon can be hitched next. Not Carbon Soul. Carbon Soul is Grant Petty on vocals, Ryan Ray on guitar, Charlie Jakubowski on bass, and Brian Knox on drums. Four guys who after each trying a couple of other musical ventures before Carbon Soul, thought that there had to be a better solution. Ryan and Brian had been playing music together for a few years, and after acquiring Charlie for bass duties and Grant for vocals, began to write new music that has not only a marketable, pleasing sound, but is not afraid to be edgy at times and push the new hard rock envelope. With each member having solid musical backgrounds and a spark for wanting to bring a better, smarter music to as many ears as possible, Carbon Soul wrote for several months before even playing a show. After playing several gigs in their hometown of Dallas as well as several cities in the southwest, the band received good responses and decided to turn it up. Carbon Soul has one thing in mind: make the fans happy by giving them music they can really get into and experience. With catchy, new, and still somewhat familiar tunes, a bright future is coming soon for Carbon Soul. Currently a six song e.p. called “Full Exposure” is being recorded at Indian Trail Recording Studios with producer Alex Gerst. The music scene had better stay tuned. -RR
