Proofed - Last Rites

03/10/07 - I just looked at the site and realized I still have Dimefest 06 up. I obviously have not been able to put much into the site recently. I have removed the forum as it's become spam land and I really don't have time to monitor it. At some point I will be rewriting dfwheavymetal, but for now, it remains as is.

12/05/05 - Watch for our ad in Harder Beat Magazine!

Show Reviews:

Rockers Against Hunger @ O'Riley's 05/06/06 - Rockers Against Hunger
Rockers For Hunger is a rock / metal show put on by Druid Entertainment to help raise food for the North Texas Food Bank. The turnout this year was spectacular and I expect to see many more successful shows in the future. It was held at O'Riley's and ran from noon to 2:00am. The show opened as all ages showcasing great young and upcoming bands like Revengeance, Rude Awakening, and Viscious Vance - all ahead of their age. Black sheep played some great covers like Nazareth's, "Hair of the Dog" followed by Element X and 23:59. TYR was definitely one of the best bands of the night. After nearly a year's break, TYR is back with an energetic and talented new singer. Valentine Failures had no problems following TYR. They were able to hold their own ground with their own brand of glam rock. The night was closed out with a bang by progressive metal band Space Time. I look forward to many more of these shows in the future. A big thanks to Ray & Stacy of Druid Entertainment for putting it together!

New Year's Eve Of Destruction @ The Penalty Box 01/01/06 - Penalty Box
Did you seriously sit at home watching the ball drop this New Year's instead of coming to this show? If your New Year's resolution is not working out for you, make a new resolution to come out to the Penalty Box for a show cause this place is rockin'. Texture opened the show with some great covers from classic rock to grunge to Damageplan. Proofed followed with a true metal performance including the covers "Thunderkiss '65" and "Thirteen Steps To Nowhere". Disrespect put on there always badass performance finished with some good ol' "Cowboys From Hell". And then there was crappy Status Hate to finish the night off... I mean.. Did I say crappy? 'Cause I meant to say some of the coolest metal motherfuckers in D/FW! Their covers of the night were "Symphony Of Destruction" & "Seek And Destroy", but what really stands out about this band is their downright bitchin' originals. Of course, they wouldn't be anywhere without their rhythm drummer Erik Robertson from Proofed. He really holds the band together in my opinion. Watch for more shows from these bands at The Penalty Box!

Grain at Sluggfest VIII 12/05/05 - Grain was explosive at Sluggfest VIII! The pit was crazy throughout their entire set. Frontman David Jarvis is seriously high energy and spits lyrics like a mad man, reminiscent of one of my late favorite bands, Snot. Grain definitely impressed me with some great breakdowns and sweet riffs. If you haven't seen them live, you're missing out on some heavy shit!

This is yet another CD that has made its way into my regular listening section. Guitarist Richard Tull has been featured numerous times in Guitar World Magazine and has a great talent for song composition. Bassist Steele Lane is equally as talented and drummer Crit Fowler pulls it all together with some solid beats. Tull's fast fingers and riff writing abilities are well demonstrated in the instrumental "Electric Brew". And come on, could you come up with a cooler name for a song? The entire CD is great, but the breakdown in "The Solution" makes it one of my top 3 picks along with the hard and heavy "This Side Of Oblivion". If you've never seen these guys in action, be sure to check them out!

I can't really review this CD since it's my own band, but I can sure as hell post it and I very definitely give it 6 stars (can I do that? ..lol). The recording quality is not great but you get the idea.
